All 10 of our spacious suites are licensed for 4 cats from the same family with plenty of room to sleep, play, watch & eat.
  • 1 cat = £20 per day
  • 2 cats = £25 per day
  • 3 cats = £30 per day
  • 4 cats = £35 per day

  • Prices are inclusive of food, treats, toys, litter, and air conditioning or heating in an extra large suite. We DON'T charge extra for cuddles, treats, or special food if we need to tempt your puss (there's always cat tuna and shredded chicken in the cupboard!). We do, however, charge for flea or worm treatment if required but would much rather we didn't need to do it so PLEASE make sure your cats are treated with effective products before their stay. (If in doubt, ask your vet what's currently recommended as fleas and worms can become resistant to popular products)

  • Price shown is per day and you will be charged both for your day of arrival and departure. This is to ensure adequate deep cleaning and washing of bedding, and also allows for any travel delays! A minimum charge amounting to 3 days boarding applies and this is your deposit. Your booking is not confirmed until the deposit is received.

  • Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day are charged at double the normal daily rate.

  • When booking, you will be asked to select a drop off and collection time within our normal opening hours. Please let us know if you are unable to stick to the times you have selected as soon as possible and what arrangements you have made for your cats collection

  • All suites are luxury sized capable of housing up to 4 cats from the same family; much more spacious than standard suites! We doubt you'll find any other suites locally that compare to ours!

  • We can provide Purina One or Royal Canin Sensible dry cat food and Whiskas/Purina Gourmet/Sheba wet food at no extra cost but you are welcome to provide your own if you would prefer your cat to stay on his/her normal diet. We cannot provide prescription food but are happy to feed it - please bring enough for the duration of your cat/s stay. All feed is weighed and recorded daily.

  • Once your booking has been accepted you will be emailed a confirmation and total amount due. A deposit equal to 3 days confirms your booking (or the full amount if your arrival date is within 7 days of booking). Payment can be made securely by card by clicking on the link in the email and should be made within 7 days of booking to secure your dates.

  • We will email you 7 days prior to drop off with a link to pay the balance which is due before drop off. Please check your spam folder if you don't receive it. If you need to cancel your booking, please refer to our Terms & Conditions.docx

    CHECK AVAILABILITY/BOOK NOW

We want your cat/s to be happy and safe with us and will do our utmost to make it so, whilst you relax and enjoy your holiday. However, in order for us to do our bit, we need you to do yours:

A condition of booking is that your cat/s is/are well having never received a positive test for Cat Flu (Feline Herpes Virus or Feline Calicivirus), in good condition, having received veterinary approved worming/flea treatment at least 3 days prior to boarding.  If we find fleas/worms during your cats stay we will treat it/them at a cost of £25 per cat to cover the cost of treatment and extra washing and indorex flea spray in the suite after your cat's departure. This will be added to your cattery account for settlement

We are unable to board uncastrated male cats over the age of 8 months

Vaccinations
Cats must be vaccinated against Feline Herpes Virus (FHV) Feline Calicivirus (FCV) and Panleukopenia (FPV) in order to stay in a cattery. Feline Leukaemia is optional.
Vaccinations/boosters MUST BE UP TO DATE AND YOU MUST SEND A PHOTO OF CAT/S VACCINATION CARD PRIOR TO THEIR STAY by email or WhatsApp. Any annual boosters should be given at least 3 days prior to drop off as it's a live vaccine and can make them feel unwell. If their vaccinations are out of date they will not be able to stay but the full balance will still be due. Please note, if your cat is unvaccinated/has missed a booster, it will take 5 weeks for them to complete the course and the 2nd injection MUST be given a minimum of 2 weeks prior to their arrival to ensure your cat is fully immunised. Check your vaccine cards now! We are uninsured to take cats that aren’t adequately vaccinated for their protection and the safety of others staying with us.

Deposit/Refunds
To secure your booking a deposit equal to 3 days boarding is required and you will be emailed an invoice on confirmation of booking. Until the deposit is paid your booking is not confirmed. Please note that payments must be made by clicking the link - we are unable to accept payment over the phone. This deposit is non refundable, unless you change or cancel your booking at least 4 weeks before your cat's expected arrival date. After this time the deposit will not be refunded. If your booking is cancelled 2 weeks before your expected arrival date 50% of the total due will be payable (including the deposit) and less than 1 week before arrival the full amount is due. This is because we have held these dates for you and turned other customers away.

Arrival
Please bring your cat/s in a suitable cat carrier. We will not be held responsible if your cat escapes from your cat carrier between the cattery and your vehicle. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CARRIER IS SUITABLE FOR THE WEIGHT OF YOUR CAT. OTHERWISE THE FRONT GRILL MAY DROP OPEN!!

The balance for your cat/s stay is due a week prior to drop off and an email with link to pay will be sent a week before. Any additional charges due to unforeseen delays or vet bills can be paid on collection.

What to bring
Please bring bedding or an item of your clothing to help your cat/s to settle and any favourite toys. If your cat has special food or is on a prescription diet, please remember to bring enough for the duration of their stay and any pain medication. We are unable to administer veterinary prescribed medication other than pain meds.

Illness/Vets
If your cat/s shows signs of illness we will aim to contact you in the first instance, or your emergency contact to discuss symptoms/treatment. If we are unable to get hold of you and we feel it is necessary for your cat/s to be seen by a vet, we will take it to your vet if within a 6 mile radius, or ours. The vet’s bill will be payable by you when you collect your cat. We accept no liability in the unlikely event that your pet becomes ill, lost or dies during their stay, although we will do our utmost to ensure their welfare whilst they are with us. However all cats are left entirely at their owner’s risk. Our insurance provides no cover for vet fees so please check your own insurance to make sure you are covered for vet fees whilst your cat is in a boarding facility, should it become necessary.

In the unfortunate event of your cat passing away whilst boarding with us we will contact you (or your emergency contact) to advise. If you would prefer not to be informed until the end of your holiday please make us aware by email or WhatsApp prior to your trip.  Arrangements will be made with your vet, if located within a 6 mile radius, or our vet, to store your cat until your return so you can arrange a funeral/cremation/burial.

Multiple cats:
Each suite is licensed for up to 4 cats from the same family but if you have more than one cat they must get on well in order to share a suite. If in doubt, please request two suites when booking. If your cats are boarded together but we deem it necessary to separate them due to unsociable behaviour you will be charged for an additional suite at the single cat rate (£20pn) or, if no additional accommodation is available we will call your emergency contact and request that they collect the cat/s

Collection
If you are delayed due to travel disruptions please let us know as soon as possible. If we are able to keep your cat/s we will wherever possible, however if our cattery is full we will call your emergency contact and ask them to collect on your behalf.
If your pet has not been collected within 7 days of the agreed departure date and we are unable to contact you, we will begin proceedings to have your cat rehomed.

A condition of booking is that you sign our Terms & Conditions thereby agreeing to the following:

Medication Authorisation
I have notified AVFC of all pre existing conditions and can confirm that my cat/s have never been confirmed to have Cat Flu (Feline Herpes Virus or Feline Calicivirus) as they can become lifetime carriers. My cat/s is fit and healthy and I know of no reason why my cat/s would be a risk to others during its stay.

I give permission for flea/worm treatment to be given as necessary. We use Capstar to treat fleas on the recommendation of our vet. Capstar won’t interfere with any treatment you have already administered. Capstar is a tablet which can be crushed in food and kills all live fleas within 24 hours. It has no residual effect. If fleas are found the suite and everything in it has to be treated which is time consuming and costly and as such you will be charged £25. PLEASE FLEA YOUR CATS BEFORE THEY STAY!

Authorisation for veterinary care
Where possible contact will be made with either the owner or emergency contact.
In the case of illness or suspected illness I give my consent and permission:
- to transport my cat/s to/from the vets practise or place of treatment
- for any investigations (e.g. blood tests, X rays) and to administer any treatment
- for euthanasia should this be recommended on humane grounds by the vet
I understand that I will be liable for all costs incurred
I authorise AVFC to administer any care, medications as prescribed by a vet.
If a cat were to pass away whilst in our care, the cat’s vet would be contacted and advice sought regarding storage until the owners return. Either the owners or their emergency contact would be notified

FAQs image

My cat has never used a cattery before. Will he be ok?

We treat each and every cat as the individual they are. Some will settle in easily but others may need a little more care and attention to help them to feel at home. We are more than happy to take the time to settle your feline friend and have a variety of toys, hidy holes and scratch posts/arches to satisfy his every need. We monitor how much he is eating and his mood on a daily record sheet. And we are happy to send you whatsap videos to reassure you so you can relax and enjoy your holiday

Do cats mix?

No! Never! Unless they are from the same family of course and are sharing a suite. There are strict rules and guidelines to ensure that cats from different families never share the same space  - this includes the safety corridor and that is why we NEVER let cats out to play in the corridor. Health and safety, infection control and your cat's welfare is always our top priority.

Do cats go outside?

No! For their safety, cats don't leave their suite until their departure and all suites open directly onto a safety corridor, where doors are locked from the inside at both ends so there are no accidental escapees! All cats have the exclusive use of their luxury sized bedroom and exercise area with plenty of climbing shelves and comfy blankets. To access their bedroom they can use either their cat flap or window from their viewing balcony, and their bedroom is thermostatically controlled, keeping them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. In their exercise run they have a climbing ramp, chair and sunning shelves to sit and watch the world go by. On warmer days, all of the perspex panels lining the safety corridor are removed and there is a lovely flow of outside air. There are bird feeders and wind chimes hanging all around the cattery and a full panoramic view of the farm. In the Winter and Spring the paddock around the cattery is gently grazed by our sheep so there is always plenty to watch.

My cat has previously tested positive for Cat Flu (Feline Herpes Virus or Calicivirus) Can they still stay?

Unfortunately, once a cat has received a positive Cat Flu diagnosis they are a potential cat flu carrier for life. As a carrier they can shed the virus some or all of the time, but particularly when they are symptomatic (runny eyes or nose). Although all cats who stay with us must be up to date with vaccinations (which include cat flu) they can still catch it. Although their symptoms should be milder they themselves then become a cat flu carrier. Older/younger cats are particularly at risk. For this reason we are unable (and uninsured) to board cats who are known to be cat flu carriers (have ever tested positive in the past)

My cat has never used a cat flap - will this be a problem?

Not at all - they usually work out how to use it pretty quickly! But otherwise, we can prop it open in winter or leave the door open from their bedroom to their exercise run or they can just use the window! (Spring and Summer)

My cat gets very stressed and I am worried about leaving her.

We leave a radio on softly during the day time to provide gentle background noise. Each bedroom has a plug point high up for a Feliway diffuser if you would like to provide one. We do ask for a detailed description of your cat's behaviour and personality so we can understand how to make them feel at home. Bringing blankets/toys/beds from home can really help them settle and we will stick to your feeding and grooming regime as closely as possible.

Do you groom cats?

Yes we do - if your cat enjoys it! It is helpful if you can provide the brushes your cat is used to. If your cat prefers not to be groomed but enjoys cuddles and strokes - don't worry they will get lots of those!!

Why do you charge by the day??

We charge by the day to allow for any delays which would result in overbooking of suites and the thorough cleaning of each suite and to ensure it has dried before moving the next guest in. For this reason you will be charged a minimum of 3 days.

When is the best time to drop my cat off?

Cats are sensitive creatures and the best time to drop them off is before you even get your suitcases out! They are bonded to you (not your house) and if they realise that something is changing they are likely to find somewhere to hide, which can make it difficult when you are ready to leave! Ideally, don't feed your cat on the day you intend to drop them off: this means they are likely to hang around the house and makes them less likely to be sick during the journey. We recommend you bring some unwashed blankets (that smell familiar) but don't put them in the cat carrying basket in case they are sick! Newspaper is best, or bring a spare unwashed blanket just in case. Remember that you are charged for the whole day so even if your flight isn't until the evening you can drop them off in the morning. If your flight is early morning it is best to drop them off the day before.

Do you accept kittens?

We are happy to accept kittens so long as their primary and secondary vaccinations have been completed at least two weeks prior to their stay with us. They must be vaccinated against Feline Panleucopaenia Virus (FPV), Feline Herpes Virus (FHV) and Feline Calicivirus (FCV).

Do you accept un-neutered males?

We accept un-neutered kittens up to the age of 8 months but if they are older then no, we don't, due to issues associated with un-neutered males and spraying.

My cat is on medication. Are you able to administer it?

Unfortunately we aren't able to board cats on medication (with the exception of pain medication or natural supplements) and would recommend seeking accommodation at a cattery affiliated with a Veterinary practice.

Do you provide food?

Yes we provide food and treats at no extra cost. We feed James Wellbeloved Fish & Rice dry cat food, and also have Royal Canin Sensible and Purina One  If your cat prefers wet food we stock Whiskas pouches in a variety of flavours, Sheba and Purina Gourmet. We are also happy to provide kitten food, both wet and dry. We hide Dreamies around their play area and bedroom for them to find once a day so please let us know if you would prefer us not to (for those who are watching their weight maybe!). All food is measured and we record what they have eaten on a daily basis. Cats are fed at 8:00 am and again at 5:00pm but if your cat has a particular feeding regime we can usually accommodate it. Some cats may suffer an upset tummy with a change of feed so if you would prefer to send their usual diet we are happy to feed them it. If your cat is on a prescription diet please ensure you provide enough food for the duration of their stay.

Can I come and look around before I book?

Yes of course, get in touch to arrange a mutually convenient appointment. Cattery viewings can be arranged for 09:30/10am on most mornings but we do need to avoid any drop offs or collections so get in touch to find out when we can accommodate you. Due to the popularity of our small cattery and our online booking system, we would advise you to book before you view, especially for peak times like school holidays that are usually booked several months in advance. We request a deposit to secure your booking but are happy to delay payment until after you have viewed ( as long as it is within 7 days of booking). We are unable to reserve suites for you until you are registered as a customer on our booking system.

Is the Cattery temperature controlled?

Yes! Each bedroom has thermostatically controlled heaters (both Gas and Electric so there is always a back up!) and we have an app on our phones which means we can check the temperature any time of the day or night and adjust accordingly. In 2020 we installed air conditioning units into the cattery corridors. Although our preference on warm days is still to lift off all the windows to allow airflow, we seem to be experiencing hotter weather each summer when the temperature in the cattery is harder to control. You can rest assured that even on the hottest days, your cats will stay cool - in fact I think our whole family will be sharing their space as the coolest place on the farm!

James, Jo and their daughters, Amy, Jess & Rosie, bought Abbotts View Farm in 2012 as 22 acres of meadow grass with planning permission for an agriculturally tied house. They built their eco house and moved in January 2013 and then filled the land with alpacas, rare breed sheep & pigs, goats, rabbits, ducks, guinea pigs and ponies. Animal welfare is their passion and all of the animals are treated with the utmost respect with attention paid to their living environment, ensuring there are plenty of opportunities for enrichment.

Abbotts View Farm Cattery has been designed and built with exactly the same principles in mind: Just 10 suites ensures that we get to know the cats who stay with us and each will be treated as the individuals they are; large suites big enough for a family of 4 ensures luxury and plenty of space; our cattery is situated in a prime position, so we can see it from our home, and our residents enjoy a full view of the farm and its comings and goings while bird feeders enhance their view .

The cattery has been designed and built to our exact specifications taking into consideration the requirements of an eco farm, and insulation has been increased dramatically from the standard design to ensure it stays cool in the summer, while thermostatically controlled heaters keep bedrooms warm in the winter. In 2020 we installed Air Conditioning which ensures the cattery stays cool, even on the hottest days. Suites are cleaned with pet friendly Anigene and steam cleaned between each stay.

The Project was part funded by a grant from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. The aim was to build an off grid eco cattery and create jobs in the local community. Whilst the cattery is family run, we have employed staff to help on the farm to allow Jo to concentrate full time on the cattery.

Work started on Monday 6th March 2017. The suites were delivered by the cattery manufacturer, Lindee Lu on April 3rd and after a busy 3 months we welcomed our first guest on 20th July 2017. We are thrilled with what we have created - a calm, light space with a lovely atmosphere and amazing views of the farm and surrounding area.

In 2018 the Animal Welfare Licensing changed and all catteries became star rated. As we had built to the highest standards and sizes just the year before, the only change we had to make was to introduce opaque panels behind any shelves and at floor level, to provide privacy. As a result, we were thrilled to be awarded a 3 year 5 star licence from Buckinghamshire Council.
